Atal Bihari Vajpayee Breaking news passed away in AIIMS Hospital 

Prime Minister Atul Bihari Vajpayee condition remains fragile and he is on the life-saving system from tomorrow. The 93-year-old leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi (AIIMS) on 11th June after complaining of kidney tract infection, urinary tract infection, difficulty in getting urine and chest tightness.
AIIMS said in a statement last night, 'Unfortunately, their condition has worsened. Their condition remains serious and they have been kept on the life-saving system. According to the medical bulletin issued by AIIMS, their condition has deteriorated in the past 24 hours.

In addition to these diseases, Atal Bihari Vajpayee is suffering from the most afflicted dementia. Actually, dementia is a condition. In which the human memory becomes weak and he can not do his daily work properly and he forgets everything.

Dementia is not only a forgery but also a memory problem. On the evening of Atal Bihari Vajpayee's condition deteriorating, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reached AIIMS to see him. From then on, leaders of AIIMS are continuing to go. Apart from Modi, railway minister Piyush Goyal and BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi also visited the hospital to know Vajpayee's skill. Many leaders and ministers, including the Union Minister Suresh Prabhu, Jitendra Singh, Harshvardhan and Shahnawaz Hussain, went to the village in the night. Earlier, the Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani also went to the hospital to know Vajpayee's condition.

Vajpayee's only kidney functioning with diabetes works. He had a stroke in 2009, after which he started having problems of knowing and recognizing people. Later, they became Dimaia, forgetting the disease. Now he does not recognize anyone.

Google Tez, the Internet search giant's first UPI-enabled digital payments app was launched in India this week. The app is aimed at catering to an audience looking for digital payment solutions. Currently, if you need a UPI app, you can choose between popular apps like Paytm, PhonePe, the NPCI's BHIM app, and a range of UPI apps from different banks in the country. With so many already available in the market, should you shift to the Google Tez app? Here's a breakdown of the Google Tez app, from what it can to do, to how to use it, and our take on its capabilities.

The Google Tez app is is a medium to facilitate bank transactions between the sender and the receiver. It isn't a digital wallet service like Paytm, but is instead like other UPI apps, such as PhonePe. One of the interesting new features from the tech giant is "Cash Mode" which can be used to send money without details of the recipient. Typically, without the other person's ID, or phone number, you have to scan their QR code, so this is a simple and easy to use feature that could be used in place or QR codes.

On Android, the Google Tez app's download size is pretty low at 8MB, but it is still large compared to PhonePe (4.26MB) and BHIM (2.99MB). The app expands to over 20MB on the phone after installation, a size that shouldn't cause much of an issue. Pretty reasonable. On iOS, it's significantly bigger, with a download size up to 54.6MB. When setting up the app, users are shown a language selection first and you can choose between local languages like Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu among others. Post the language selection, it asks you for your mobile number that is paired with your bank account - you are then asked to provide permissions. We also found that the Tez app links this to the Google account signed into the phone, on both Android as well as iOS. You do have the option to link a different account, but a Google account is mandatory for the app to work.


Once you enter the number, and are verified by an SMS OTP, you are given the option to set up a Google PIN or use the current screen lock method on the phone. You are then asked to select your bank from a list to link it for UPI transactions. If you haven't set up UPI for that bank account previously, the Google Tez app will guide you to get it done. On the other hand if you have enabled UPI on the account, it will ask for the existing UPI PIN - which can also be reset via OTP, in case you've forgotten it. Tez then creates a VPA using the name in your email ID. While most other apps give you the option to choose the VPA, Tez does not have the option. The VPA created for you is based on the partnerships Google has at the time of launch (Axis Bank, HFDC, ICICI, and SBI). For instance, using a Kotak Mahindra account we were assigned a "@okaxis" VPA, but pairing it with an ICICI account resulted in an "okicici" VPA. When trying out the app, we did face difficulties when adding the bank account in Tez, though a couple of tries seemed to solve the issue. After these steps are complete, you're good to go.


The first screen when the Google Tez loads up is pretty basic, has offers limited functionality when compared to PhonePe and BHIM. PhonePe gives you additional options like paying your utility bills through the app, while BHIM has simpler Send, Request, and Scan & Pay options - the last being for QR codes, in case you don't want to share your ID with the other person. Making payments using the Google Tez app is easy, as it needs just a tap to select the recipient. The app also lists other Tez users from your phonebook for a faster process. Apart from Tez users, you can also add recipients using their bank account numbers and IFSC codes to transfer money, or send money via a UPI ID, QR code, or phone number. In case a contact has already been created, clicking on it will open the transaction log with that contact, and you can easily pay or request money using this feature. We tried transacting using the app and it worked without a hitch, though there were a few hiccups soon after launch on Monday - something Google explained to us was due to unprecedented surge in interest.

Swiping down on the first screen in the Google Tez app will give you access to "Cash Mode", which lets you transfer money without having the recipient's phone number or needing to share your own - useful in the case of transactions at a shop or another business. For this, the user transmits audio using Google's Audio QR (AQR) technology to identify the recipients phone near you. We tried this feature and it worked as advertised even in a noisy environment. But we must say that it took longer than expected.

To incentivise Tez app, Google is offering users Rs. 51 for referring new users to use the app. After the referred individual makes their first payment, both users will get the amounts credited to their bank accounts. Apart from this, using Tez to transfer money (Rs. 50 and above) awards both the sender and the recipient Google Tez Scratch Cards, with one scratch card per week for the sender-recipient pair. Scratch card gives user the chance to earn up to Rs. 1,000, which is transferred back to the respective bank account. We received Rs. 69 for a Rs. 100 transaction which was instantly credited to the bank account. You can earn a maximum of 10 rewards per week, up to a total of Rs. 9,000 per financial year. There are two types of Google Tez Scratch Cards. The blue ones are awarded to both sender and recipient, while one red 'Lucky Sunday's card is awarded to the sender once per week. This red Google Tez Scratch Card is locked until each Sunday, and users will be able to scratch it for a chance to win up to Rs. 1 lakh - as per Google.

After the initial hiccups the Google Tez app seems to be working reliably. The app works as expected and the Cash Mode feature does look promising. However in comparison, the PhonePe app looks more useful as it lets you pay your utility bills and other stuff. But if basic money transfer is what you need, the BHIM app still works just fine.

TRAI Slashes Call Termination Charge to 6 Paise per Minute

In a move that may result in lower call charges, telecom regulator TRAI on Tuesday slashed the rate paid by an operator for termination of mobile call on a rival network to 6 paise a minute, from the current 14 paise.

TRAI said the new call termination charge will be applicable from October 1, 2017, and will be completely eliminated from January 1, 2020.

The cut in the charge runs contrary to the demands made by established operators, including Bharti Airtel, which wanted the termination rate to be raised and benchmarked against the actual cost.

The latest entrant Reliance Jio, on the other hand, had been seeking to waive off the charge, saying it will benefit consumers.

"On the basis of comments received from stakeholders, in writing or during the open house discussion or during the workshop, the Authority has prescribed revised domestic mobile termination charges through these regulations," TRAI said in a statement.

CHANDIGARH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not spared as a furious court today reprimanded Haryana and the central governments over the deadly rioting by self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim's followers after his conviction for rape. "He is the Prime Minister of not the BJP but of India," said the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The court was responding to the centre's lawyer saying that yesterday's violence was a matter of the state. "Is Haryana not a part of India? Why are Punjab and Haryana treated like step children?" the court questioned.

Earlier, the ML Khattar government in Haryana confronted sharp words as the court said: "You let a city like Panchkula burn for political motives."

After Ram Rahim's conviction, thousands of his supporters massed near a court in Panchkula went berserk, burning cars, damaging property and targeting residents. The violence spread to other towns in Haryana and parts of Punjab.


"You let the situation escalate. You surrendered to the situation," said court, admonishing the state government over a Panchkula police officer being sacked this morning. "You are trying to crucify a small DCP of Panchkula what about those political masters who have been giving wrong directions?" the judges said to the Haryana government.

Nearly three hours of arson and vandalism left Panchkula, always seen as a peaceful second option to adjoining Chandigarh, badly scarred.


The Haryana government has been criticised for allowing at least 1.5 lakh followers of Dera Sacha Sauda, the sect headed by Ram Rahim, to gather at Panchkula for the verdict, despite a ban on large gatherings.

The court also asked how many cars were allowed into Panchkula yesterday afternoon when Ram Rahim arrived from Sirsa - the Dera headquarters - in a large convoy for the court verdict.

Chief Minister ML Khattar had acknowledged yesterday that there were lapses. The "lapses have been identified and we are taking appropriate steps," he said last night, adding: "This should not have happened."

But in another statement, he also appeared to shield Ram Rahim's followers as he said criminals had infiltrated the crowd of Dera Sacha Sauda devotees.

The comments were not missed by the court, which said: "Your Chief Minister said miscreants got mixed up with Dera people, giving the impression that they didn't do anything, you're still supporting them, you are the ones who made this happen."

Actor Aamir Khan, who interacted with the media on his 52nd birthday, shared his birthday plans and spoke about his "only" upcoming film, his recent meetings with Shah Rukh Khan and that he is not very fond of award shows in Bollywood. Aamir was asked whether he would attend the National Awards this year, if his much-acclaimed wrestling drama Dangal scores a win. Aamir told reporters on Tuesday, "I don't go to award functions. For me the biggest award is the audiences' reaction and love. I don't want to comment on awards." When asked about his massive physical transformation, he said: "As an actor it's necessary to bring about physical changes. I get swayed sway by the character I play and do not think about my health. I have been good so far."

Dangal done, Aamir will next be seen in Thugs Of Hindostan, in which he will co-star with superstar Amitabh Bachchan for the first time. "Thug is the only film I'm doing right now. Shooting will begin in June. This year I'm really excited about Thugs. This is my first chance to work with Big B. I'll get to learn a lot from an actor of the stature of Big B," said Aamir.

To all those, who are looking forward to a possible collaboration between Shah Rukh and Aamir, he said: "I met Shah Rukh only two times recently, one at a friend's birthday party and two days back I went to his house for a get-together. So, we meet as friends and haven't discussed work."

Aamir Khan, now 52, will also be producing Secret Superstar, starring Zaira Wasim and also featuring Aamir in a special appearance. Thugs Of Hindostan will be directed by Advait Chandan and will be co-produced by his wife Kiran Rao. Thugs Of Hindostan is scheduled to hit screens on August 4.
